Re: Hello from a Confused Newbie
Hello and welcome. Let me say I can relate quite a bit to what you have to say. Romance is something I don't get (though my views on the subject are quite outside the norm), and in the simplest terms, a normal, monogamous, romantic relationship is not something I want. Sex, I am much the same. I am ...

Indeed, Apositive seems to go almost dead for awhile, then pick up with quite a bit of daily activity for awhile, rinse, repeat.
And huzzah for another year!

Virtually everything that has passes since 9/11 in the name of "national security" should be more than enough to debunk this statement.

Re: Idk where I am welcome...
The blowing the nose analogy is interesting. With that (and other bodily functions not mentioned) I tend to not enjoy the process, but I do enjoy the sense of relief afterwards. Would it be the case that those who don't enjoy masturbation do not enjoy the process, but enjoy the relief afterward, or ...

Re: Idk where I am welcome...
Labels are kind of a double edged sword. On the one hand, they are useful for describing one's self, and for finding social groups one can easily plug into. However, they are often restrictive, may cause people to think incorrect things about you, and may pressure you into conforming into things you...

Good news! You happen to have stumbled upon one of the few asexuality sites where actually talking about sex in order to understand (a)sexuality isn't frowned upon, and is actually encouraged! As to your sexuality, a few things I've noted over the years. Many asexuals do not find that romantic and s...

I've been checking in when I can, but what with the holidays and the mandatory overtime at work, that time has been scarce.

Very nice painting, Greybird. Incredible ability there. Michael, while I cannot relate to it, I do dig the poem. As for my own creative endeavors, I'd post some of my miniatures, but I don't have any photos of those online or on my computer at the moment. I do, however, have some photos of a recent ...

Other. I have two major holidays around this time of year. Good Christmas, which occurs usually the weekend closest to December 12, and Shitty Christmas, which occurs around the 25th. The former is a celebration with some friends that has been going on for about the past seven years I think. It's mo...

Re: the current effort to destroy Apositive
I'd not say anyone was walked all over. The discussion was pretty straightforward, point/counter-point type thing. Nor did I see any verbal abuse. Admittedly the discussion did get heated, but the topic stayed pretty much entirely on the merits of the conflicting opinions; it did not go to ad-homine...

You know, I think changing the word filter to "f*ck" seems a pretty fair compromise. It still allows for the original intent to come across and does not harm readability, while at the same time politely discouraging its use.

I have a suggestion: institute a rule about evading the language filter and permaban anyone who uses any technique to evade it. Start with the member who used such evasive techniques in a poll thread I started recently in General Discussions. I thought that person was abusing me but s/he was merely...

At risk of going into political, how did Barack Obama allow you to see the doctor? I still don't have health insurance, and I am glad there has been quite a bit of trouble with the mandate that requires people to purchase it, because I cannot afford it.

1) Kæth, interesting notion, Apositive as a publication, I'll have to think about that.
2) PiF, please tell me I am wrong in seeing this as you being run off by the debacle over this one word. It seems such a trite issue to abandon a board over.

Depends on the person. Some people do seem to define themselves by their sexuality or their hair color. For others, it is just a trait. Likewise, some people define others by their sexuality or hair color, while others don't.

Dargon and PiF: Your votes probably belong in the "other" category. I thought of that, but I figured I'd wait until the original options were clarified. If there are problems that can't be solved, and they are significant enough, then the only postures that make sense are either afterlife...

I prefer to say what I mean than play "nudge, nudge, wink, wink, you know what I mean" games. This here is a major pet peeve of mine. I may have raised this point already in this thread (too lazy to look) but I find myself quite annoyed when for whatever reason people can't say a particul...

The way I see it: if Nancy doesn't want swear words in her living room, fair enough. That doesn't mean there can't be valid uses of swear words in the topics that come up on apositive. It doesn't make people who swear less intelligent. It just means: "please, not here". Interesting point....

Just chiming in to say that if the profanity filter changed "f*ck" into "gently caress," that would be hilarious. In reading some of the replies, it seems the problem people are having is less that they want to use the term "f*ck," and more that they feel censored witho...

I'm abstaining from the vote for now because I am not sure how I feel about the options. First off, I'm going to assume, based on your second post, by "world" you mean "humanity." Humanity regularly commits some vile things, but it does good things too. Now your definition of &qu...

It would make sense, I think, in "Contributions" was made part of the site proper. It doesn't make sense for it to be in the War Room forums, and I think many people would find it a valuable resource to have.

Okay, it appears that the War Room is a set of fourms (much like the Community and Website Stuff forum sets); all but "Contributions" look to have been used when setting up the site or managing the transfer of ownership and the like. I can still see all of them (I assumed this was because ...
