Re: Aven and my PiF bannings

AVEN's front page has been hacked. What's next?

The hackers will probably be banned for being trolls. Will they appeal or hack some more?

Re: Aven and my PiF bannings

Here's what I have been able to determine. PIF was banned again around the middle of August this year. He is now referencing a hushmail account which, according to the company, will delete and close the free account if not used within a 3 week period. How do we know that opening the email from asexu...

Re: Aven and my PiF bannings

You were banned 3 times? I thought it was only twice with the second time being very shortly after your return (almost too short to have actually earned 3 warns). It just shows how out of the loop I am. Heck, I still don't know who breachzilla was or is or whatever. There is a thread over there abou...

Re: Why Asexuality is fake

If we were to align correctly with a minority then why not pedophiles?..there are more pedophiles than asexuals so the larger group benefit is there, they are well organised and are mostly straight and are a group that also are unlikely to feel sexual attraction...to adults..surely we have more in ...

Re: Some help I hope on what is an asexual

PiF, it sounds like you want and enjoy sex only if the other person initiates and only if they don't do it with any sort of frequency. Do you think AVEN was initially created for folks to gather and talk about how they want and enjoy sex? Would people who want and enjoy sex seek out an asexual forum...

Re: Some help I hope on what is an asexual

Look at it this way: if desire had nothing to do with it or if it was true that asexuals desire sex but can't find anyone that they are motivated to have sex with, then they would be spending all of their time being sexually frustrated. That sure as heck doesn't describe me. Perhaps it describes PiF...

Re: Some help I hope on what is an asexual

I say the basis or motivation is a desire for partnered sex. If I have no interest or desire for partnered sex, then I am not motivated to get into a sexual dalliance. If I did desire partnered sex, then sexual attraction (as well as other considerations) would be the mechanism to separate the wheat...

Re: Trees are asexual...aren't they?

Welcome! I hope the change in meds amount helps relieve your depression. Now on topic! I would suggest finding someone who is into your fetish as much as you are and see how things fall out from there. I know a couple made up of a guy who isn't into shagging and a female who claims to be a lesbian. ...

Re: Some help I hope on what is an asexual

My question would be: Why do you care if someone incorrectly identifies as asexual? How does it affect your life? Or better yet, instead of identifying as anything, why not own it and state what you really mean? For example: "I don't fancy a shag." or "I'm not interested in shagging r...

Yes, Heinz salad cream and Heinz beans. If I see either product in someone's trolley, I know exactly where they are from and approach them immediately to ask about the Queen. :D

Re: Trolling? Please, you don't know what trolling is.

From what little I have read of that one gal's post, I would say she has an extreme fear of men. She will pull out any statitstics available to prove her point that she should be fearful. She also seems to carry around an -ism detector and will zero in on all posts that set off the meter (even if to...

Re: Is our visability trying to punch above our weight?

I believe Dis is using a different definition of "sex positive" and "sex negative" than you are. Speaking of definitions ... Dis, what is your definition of an asexual? If it mirrors the definition of other sexual orientations and you don't view asexuality as a sexual orientation...

Re: Why women find it difficult to find an asexual man

Do you consider sex an integral part of a serious relationship? If you answered "yes" to the above, kindly skip the rest of the survey. Do you consider partnered sex a need or necessity for yourself? If you answered "yes", then skip the rest and don't try to sneak out with the pe...

Re: The relationship between asexuality and LGBT activism

That's correct. The sexual orientation label is not remotely useful because it was not meant to be remotely useful or all encompassing. There are so many things that are not addressed. The only thing it does address is the comparative sex between two people. And I am not being ludicrous in the defin...

Re: The relationship between asexuality and LGBT activism

Olivier, that is all "sexual orientation" addresses, the comparative sex between two people in a significant (to them) relationship. Since so much more goes into how people form relationships, focusing on whether two people have the same looking genitals or not is superficial at best. If y...

Re: The relationship between asexuality and LGBT activism

I believe DJ doesn't have to be involved in running the site because enough people are there to relay his message. Asexuality is his version regardless of how it was discussed before and other definitions used for it. He was the one who decided to frame it as a sexual orientation so that he could ri...

Re: Reviving Apositive

No, Michael, I wasn't referring to you nor Apositive. My point was that you can try to recruit those who want to leave AVEN, but it may only go so far as increasing the numbers but not the involvement. Those other websites didn't last because the people were not involved with them. Another point is ...

Michael, I don't think more subfora are necessary ... just more threads in the General Discussion forum. I'm up for a discussion on shaming in activism. Doesn't a chat cost money unless it is meebo which preserves the discussions forever? I remember chatting on AVEN about 4 years ago. It was not mod...

Re: Asexuality and the pathologization of "deviant" sexuality

Harmony, do you work for CAMH or something? The things that you are saying are pretty close to straight up party-line propoganda to justify the unjustifiable. What propaganda? I am looking at the DSM's definitions and criteria as they present them. If you want to fight what you believe the propagan...

Re: Asexuality and the pathologization of "deviant" sexuality

If you have a situation where 50% of men have some sexual fantasy, and only 2% (I'm just making up numbers) actually act on it (in a non-consensual way), the idea that they did it because of their fantasies is quite problematic. The DSM is specifically describing your 2% only . We must take both Cr...

Re: Asexuality and the pathologization of "deviant" sexuality

A large part of the reason that the "paraphilias" are in the DSM is because people investigating sex-offenders find that they frequently have these sorts of "deviant" sexual fantasies. So such researchers say "Aha! This man has these sexual fantasies, and he acted on them c...

This is a good thread that I would like to discuss further. Why do sexually active asexuals need to have anyone acknowl...
