Re: Asexuals and advertising

I am resistant to advertising in general and roll my eyes at it more often than not. Even IF I was attracted to the person in the advert, I wouldn't link that with the product at all.

Re: A serious discussion on repression.

If I were, in fact, a repressed sexual, my thoughts would be running toward sexuality and active sex all the time. Why? That wouldn't mean you're repressed, that would mean there's a part of yourself that you're denying and trying to suppress or ignore. Your example hangs on the assumption that you...

A serious discussion on repression.

We all know that one of the classic snap-diagnoses of people upon hearing that we are not interested in sex is "You must be repressed" or "You must be a homosexual in denial". Personally, I often reject this instantly because it's such a cheap, go-to diagnosis that someone clearl...

I highly respect civil servants, I think it's a noble thing to be the foundation that holds society together. 33 dollars (USD?) an hour is a bit much for such an easy profession though.

Re: love and sex in a book

Love and sex are greatly exaggerated in any book, it's the reason I stopped reading even though I was a huge book reader. Not to be dismissive of your opinion, but I wouldn't place too much stock in a romance novel. Instead, perhaps you want to examine that while the book itself may or may not be a ...

Re: Ace-friendly LGBT groups

Though I've long been in favor of grouping asexuals and LGBTQ together, I've slowly come to the realization that this is what I want rather than what is . Based on accounts from other asexuals, I think it's fair to say that a lot of LGBTQ groups are not any more ace-friendly than any other group. A...

What the government is doing is undoubtedly slimy and disgraceful. With their war on online file sharing as well, the U.S is looking like the worst possible place to host a website. North Korea comes a close second.

Re: Benedict Cumberbatch on Alan Carr Show

I don't see the need for outrage at this. Benedict was obviously making a huge assumption and a bad joke, having just heard about asexuality, but it's not unreasonable or uncommon for people to equate asexuality with unsocial tendencies. Obviously on a comedic talk show they're not going to go into ...

Re: nocturnal erections

I think it's directly correlated with age, based on consensus and studies. Or am I thinking of spontaneous erections? Not sure. In any case I've heard that sexual dreams are very common and even desirable among sexuals (and even asexuals) so it would seem more likely that they'd have nocturnal erect...

Re: History: nonlibidoism society

Huh, that's a bit of an odd definition/s for them to use. In whatever definition, I do understand why they'd want to congregate like that. They're terrified of sex, which is all around them. They find AVEN, feel great at finding a place free of the sexual disease, but then are quickly disappointed t...

Re: Hi guys!

It's not that tough, it's just a matter of introspecting enough to detach from the expectations and criticisms of society and peers. Pretty much everyone has to go through this stage (irony) and Asexuality isn't particularly hard in that regard.

Re: Asexuality, and Love

The kind of love that I think of as "true" love (or asexual love) is not an emotion at all. It is a conscious decision and committment to cherish a person as they are , for life, no matter what happens in the future. In that case, what is the initial motivation to make the conscious decis...

Re: Anyone else fed up with technology?

I don't see the reasoning in ascribing to technology evils of which it is not capable. It's how people use it that determines its usefulness. The internet, for example, is what I consider to be the single greatest invention in the history of mankind. Many of you might be thinking now that this state...

Re: Asexuality, and Love

"Love", in my opinion, is something that likely does not exist; as described in literature and stuff as being some sort of force of nature that binds two people together inexplicably, and that's the short version. Looking at any relationship, it's very obvious to see the patterns as to why...

Re: Is Blood thicker than Water?

I concur, I have zero tolerance for people who use the "b-b-but they're family!" card. The sense of attachment most people ascribe to family is not "love" as it is most often called. I would describe it more as a parasitic mechanism of self-preservation to become attached to a gr...

Re: San Francisco Pride Parade, June 27th

Was it a religion-fueled attack, or just a general hatred thing? Very little, if any, hatred towards homosexuality comes from religion, mostly it's just people finding it icky. I can imagine a group of skinheads or something having issue with a pride march.
