Re: Asexuality flags available soon - details and link

Great initiative! The flag isn't really my favorite design, but I think it's useful for asexuals participating in Gay pride marches or at information stands. Dutch AVEN-people are now planning doing such things, so a flag could be useful to draw attention etc. I am at the other end of the world, but...

Re: Why do we organize as asexuals?

Well, given the very small number of asexuals, organizing and meeting will be mainly through forums and websites, as meeting in real life is a lot more difficult because of the geographical spreading. The same thing (meeting through the internet) can be seen in the gay scene, which is larger, but al...

Re: Why do we organize as asexuals?

Looking at asexuals in order to "cure" them is horrible - just like they wanted to cure homosexuals. But this is science used to legitimate and inforce the mainstream/majority opinion, so corrupted science. That's exactly one of the reasons why asexuals should organize: to show that we are...

Re: Ace-friendly LGBT groups

Well, I think as being not part of the heterosexual majority, asexuals are "on the same side" as gays, lesbians, transgenders, etc. - all have to cope with their minority position, and have a certain need to be visible and being recognized. However, here in the Netherlands I see a rather s...

Re: Why I’m a Sex-Positive Asexual

Nice article! The way you can talk about sex, without practising, is similar to the way I love to impress other people talking about foreign cities I never went to, but while I have read so much about, I know more about them than people who actually went there :D It is also the same way people don't...

Re: Ace-friendly LGBT groups

2. I know personally I, and I think asexuals in general, want a very queer LGBT, with discussions on gender and sexuality and so on. Something that really stimulates the mind. And activism work is also important to me. My local teen LGBT is apparently just loads of teenagers hanging around and shar...

Re: San Francisco Pride Parade, June 27th

I like to go to the Amsterdam Gay Pride, which is more about celebrating freedom and diversity and less a demonstration for equal rights etc (in the Netherlands that's on a different occasion). This Pride therefore attracts lots of openminded straight people, and therefore has a very relaxt atmosphe...

Re: The Creation of a Flag

Sure, the black-gray-white-purple flag is better than the other symbols, so it's indeed a step forward (allthough still second-best in my opinion). But the flag isn't that well-known yet: on the Dutch AVEN-forum they didn't know about the flag until I noticed them today, and on the German AVEN-forum...

Re: The Creation of a Flag

I was searching for symbols for asexuality, and found this topic. I learned that recently a black-gray-white-purple flag was adopted, but I agree with other members here that this flag looks rather depressive. As Rainbow Amoeba said, it is important such flags are "understood" also by peop...
