Re: My brain is confusing me!

I have a feeling many asexuals are pretty sub - I don't know how to take control of a sexual situation, and would feel much more comfortable if the other did. That's an interesting point right there. In my case, although I'm fairly submissive in general, when it comes to sexual interactions I think...

Re: Article for teens-- feedback please!

Sounds pretty good to me! :D One thing you might want to consider adding: a little bit about the history of the term "asexual," perhaps? Considering where we stand with visibility at this point, I think you might lose a good portion of your audience in the first paragraph if you don't go i...

Re: Reactions to loss...

I recently lost my best friend of seven years... She and I were best friends in high school, and then when we went to college, we shared a dorm room up until January of last year. In the previous semester, she'd gotten a boyfriend and damn near moved in with him, for all the time she spent in our do...

As a child, I remember being a fan of Animaniacs and being totally baffled by the whole "Helloooo nurse" thing for years. Hahaha, wow. That is definitely a blast from the past. In my case... Hmm. I don't remember ever being baffled by that or anything like it, really, but at the same time...

Re: Asex as safe word

Yeah, I have. During the years that I identified as bisexual/pansexual, I dissociated from the idea of ever having sex completely . And I ran away from anyone who I ever perceived as wanting a relationship with me as well, as soon as I got any sort of hint that that was what they were after. However...

Re: Broaching the topic of asexuality

With coming out I eventually realized that all those torturous conversations where people sit around and point out hotties or ask you who you'd rather f*ck are educational opportunities. Yes, exactly. Those are the kinds of conversations which I usually use to come out to people, whether they're po...

Re: Beyond Presidential Primaries

Personally, I think the whole system needs an overhaul. I don't have any solutions, I just know we need some major changes to happen, if we are to have a chance at regaining real influence over our own government. I doubt that will happen. At least not anytime soon. At this point, I really just want...

Re: Labeling: Descriptive vs Prescriptive

I kinda have issues with the term "gray-A" because it can be argued that the only A's who aren't gray are the ones who have no sexual feelings of any variety (aka non-libonists). And when we start dividing people into categories again we end up with the same problems that caused the rift ...

Re: beyond 101: explaining nuance to the media and others

I recently had a very nice conversation about asexuality with a friend of mine on facebook, whom I very rarely talk to anymore. I had posted some asexuality-related links on there, and he commented that it was like an epiphany to him that real asexuality existed. He found it hard to believe at first...

Re: Labeling: Descriptive vs Prescriptive

Yes, labels can be descriptive or prescriptive (ideally descriptive), but that's not all they are. They are practical when dealing with many other people and trying to understand "things about people" and not just "people". But most of all, they are political . And that's someth...

I know there are some mountainous areas in some parts of the state, but there would still be no escape from that hellish heat. I also have an absolute horror of tornadoes which borders on a full-blown phobia. I don't care much for electrical storms, either, because I've had several close calls with...

I'd like to throw in that stimulation can still be quite pleasant for a lot of these non-orgasmic women. And it's also wise to remember that stimulation and even orgasm can be quite dull and pointless for some orgasmic women. This is sometimes referred to as "sexual anesthesia". Much of t...

That's true, there is a bit of a different dynamic here. Atheism is a belief, after all, so intellectual discussion goes with the territory. Re: Sex on TV [...and in books] (Adult Content to be expected!)

I once read a quote by Madeline L'Engle that I liked dealing with sex in literature. She didn't like scenes that described sex on the grounds that they don't add anything to the story. If you've had sex, you don't need someone to explain it to you, and if you haven't no amount of explanation will s...

As far as boundaries within a relationship go, I also tend to define it differently depending on the relationship. Or not really define it at all. As far as personal boundaries go, I am not a cuddleslut, nowhere near it. I will hug people, but beyond that, even though I really like to cuddle there a...
