Re: hello hello

I'm one of the older asexuals, and for a long time, there was just no word for my orientation/ perspective. I thought I was something not quite human, perhaps not quite alive in the same sense as everyone else. I didn't view myself and others in a sexual way, though there was a type of attraction go...

Re: A serious discussion on repression.

There is a certain repressive dynamic in it, but asexuality itself is not repression.

Re: A serious discussion on repression.

I first learned about repression in Freudian terms. That is, repression is a mechanism by which people defend the integrity of their personality. The idea that most mental processes are unconscious is a Freudian assertion also, but I just can't conceive of defense mechanisms as being unconscious. On...

Re: A serious discussion on repression.

If I were, in fact, a repressed sexual, my thoughts would be running toward sexuality and active sex all the time. My imagination, I think, or I would imagine(that's a joke) would be cluttered with sexual imagery. The non-sexual interactions I have with people are intense and just full. Full of emot...

Re: Is anyone else completely sex-aversive?

Some days ago, a guy I know, told me that he could easily win over me in a "game of dirty sex", and I was basically paralysed (at least mentally) for quite a while.

I would respond in a similar way.

Re: ceremonial occultism

As a Christian, I don't take issue with anything on this thread except the idea that Catholic ceremonies are "ceremonial occultism." The word, occult refers to anything that is hidden, secret. It applies to knowledge that is restricted to a very few people and usually passed on orally. The...

Re: Is anyone else completely sex-aversive?

I can't say that I'm sex-averse, but I share your hypersensitivity in the sense that I can't tolerate sexual content on stage, screen and even sometimes in books. I don't consider myself a prude, I just know that that sort of stimuli opens up thoughts of an intimate side of myself, a whole set of fe...

Re: Hello

I have just come from AVEN.
I'm sorry you did not feel comfortable there, and I hope your discomfort was not brought on by anything I wrote.
I still go to AVEN, but I don't respond very much. If there's something that I really think needs my attention, I'll write.
It's good that you made it here.
