Re: personality disorder test

Schizoid is an interesting one. I took Abnormal Psychology a few years ago, and the professor mentioned that there were some disorders that many in the field argue are not actually disorders; they my differ from the norm, but they do not cause harm or distress. Schizoid Personality Disorder was one ...

Re: Romantic and sexual orientation

The Kinsey Scale with the additional axis (the model I described) and the Storms model are quite similar; the problem with the Kinsey scale it is is more concerned with the proportion of attraction, while the Storm model gives separate magnitudes to both same sex and opposite sex attraction, which i...

Re: we have expletive deleted?

I wouldn't say it's about maturity levels most of the time, I mean it only takes a split-second to put an extra "u" in so it's more just a habit people get used to (on busier forums anyway). One site had "sausages" come up if a certain word was used so in my opinion getting roun...

With regards to the filter being in place, I see valid points on both sides, and I tend to lean with side opposed to the filter, but it's not my call. Also, the filter ruins the joke about American beer and sex in a canoe. However, with regards to people who get around via intentional typos like &qu...

Re: Romantic and sexual orientation

Is being romantic an orientation? I begin to get a little confused when the difference between some words begins to be debated. It almost seems like semantics is an ongoing online problem of sorts. A common view is as follows: Consider sexuality. There's a spectrum from heterosexuality to homosexua...

Re: ceremonial occultism

With regards to communion, that's a rather interesting tradition. For most denominations I am familiar with, communion is entirely symbolic (albeit I still find it a bit weird). However, in Catholicism, there is the belief in transubstantiation, wherein after consumption, the wine and wafer do trans...

Re: Common occurance amongst asexuals.

In AVEN there seems to be a large amount of it, but I cannot help but wonder how much of that is due to cisgendered asexuals not having much to say about the matter. There really isn't much to say regarding how your gender fits into society when you are cis. Those furthest from the norm (norm not ne...

Okay, I've read through, here's what I have to say. With regards to moderating, my style is much in line with Greybird's; we're all adults here, I'd rather we be able to deal with these things like adults rather than shutting down every little disagreement "for moderator review" in order t...

Ok, haven't read through the whole thing yet (will do later), but seeing as the admins and moderators were called out, and seeing as I happen to be one of those, I figured I'd say a quick piece. I would have chimed in earlier, but life has me busy, and I cannot check in every day. Michael's views ar...

I let this one stay because while I was suspicious as to it being a spammer or a troll, it also didn't clearly violate the ToS, so I just decided to wait and see what happened. ..i want to find a man who will have sex with me when i want and not when he wants ... My bigger problem with chat is that the real time, mass user nature of it makes it less conducive to constructive conversation. The forum environment allows for longer, more thought out responses, and allows a person to carry multiple, well organized veins of discussion. Chat rooms just move too fas...

Re: Are David Jay and the activists doing more harm than good?

First, with regards to the lgbt, this is a double edges sword. The lgbt groups often already have a visiable foothold in their area, and as such, allying with them allows asexuality to take advantage of that foothold without ever having to carve its own. (aside: my opinions on asexuality being part ...

Really? I figured based on the commonality of the syllables and inflections, it would be a fairly accurate representation. Now I wonder what it sounds like, though as an English speaker, I probably won't ever know.

I've seen that song before, I found it pretty cool. He does use a lot of common syllables, syllable combinations, and inflections, so I'd imagine English does sound very similar to that to a non-English speaker.

It takes time to cope with these things. Some elements you move past quickly, others you never move past. You do what you have to. If that means sharing your feeling here, we'll provide a shoulder to lean on. If it involves being away for awhile, we'll be here when you get back.

It's the small scale studies that lead to the large scale ones. This is indeed progress.
