Re: A survey for A-positive's members

Bugger, non-asexuals cannot take the survey. This leaves me rather disappointed, as someone who was an AVENite for around three years, as well as a member of apositive and the A-sylum for about three years each as well. I don't know what the survey is looking for exactly, but it seems to me that if ...

Re: Hi from new member and question for admins

Hello and welcome.

I must say you are the first researcher on asexuality I have seen that actually identifies as such, and as such I am quite interested to see where your research goes. Best of luck with it.

Re: Shades of Grey?

Hello and welcome, Zizka. I don't have too much to add on top of what these others have said. I would like to emphasize what Greybird said regarding hormones. It definitely the case that the hormone driven aspect of relationships tends to fade around one to two years, so this is pretty much right on...

Re: Asexuality Research- please participate!

Well I participated in it and, Dargon, based on the questions, I say anyone can participate in it... except for aromantics :( It focuses on sex and romantic relationships. Some of my replies weren't accurate because of that. But it does mention sexual identification and whether it had ever changed....

Re: Asexuality Research- please participate!

If I may ask, since this is an asexuality survey, would there be any use in someone who no longer identifies as asexual completing the survey, or would I simply be a meaningless data point?

Re: treatment of minorities

I find it a bit odd that the owners of the alternative asexual forums (here, the asylum, cakegasm etc) don't seem to advertise/publicise their own sites on AVEN much. Surely if you want more visitors it'd help to mention your site a bit more. Perhaps, but I question how much it would have to be pos...

Re: treatment of minorities

I would say of all the asexual sites I belong to after aven..apositive is the busiest You pop up at the A-sylum from time to time, and it's totally busier over there. Mind you, the topic is more often politics and other randomness, seldom asexuality. None the less, those observations are quite true...

Re: Asexuality and feminism

... .Back when the Canada-US free trade agreement was hot news, someone did a study showing that, if free trade were implemented, 75,000 women and 175,000 men would lose their jobs, so the newspaper headlines said: "Free trade hurts more women than men." It is a social _requirement_ for n...

Re: Asexuality and feminism

Considering men in Kindergarten positions (or hell, any school position aside from football coach) are viewed as weird and creepy and probably pedophiles (thanks Oprah!), I'd say that has more to do with it than this power conspiracy. I may have shared my own thoughts on the issue, but I'll repeat i...

Re: treatment of minorities

The cis-gendered are likely quite silent because, as cis-gendered people, there is nothing out of the ordinary with regards to their gender. It is much akin to saying that neurotypical peoples are a minority on AVEN due to the large number of people speaking of their asperger's. It's not that they a...

Re: Klinefelter's syndrome and gender

I'm seeing what Siggy is seeing. The overt message is that this person is biologically not on the gender binary, and thus it's ok for her to transition to the side she feels right in. The underlying, unspoken message is that only in that circumstance is that ok. Hell, it's hardly unspoken, what with...

Re: AVENues

If I may, AVENues started on AVEN, and AVEN is it's main readership and content provider. That will likely always be the case. None the less, it is an asexual publication, an avenue of visibility, and thus belongs in this fourm. Furthermore, if you have a problem with them, take it up with them. It ...

Re: treatment of minorities

The treatment of males hasn't always been the case; I've noticed in the past AVEN has gone on more than a few very misandrist or misogynist bends.

That being said, non-liberals don't receive the happiest treatment on AVEN either.

Re: No sex, wtf

That was part of the ideology I was fighting against when I left AVEN those years ago. There was this notion (which seems to have fortunately quieted quite a bit since then) that "true" or "pure" asexuals had not and do not and will not have sex. Seeing the vast many asexuals I k...

Disjointed is indeed rather old-school AVEN. I get here and the A-sylum mixed up in my head sometimes, but disjointed is also a somewhat frequent poster over in that realm.

I still get them (maybe once or twice a week), but not as often as I used to (they used to be nightly). I am 25.

That being said, I don't identify as asexual, so I may not be the best data point for this.

Hostile theist, I kind of like that. I must say if I believed in any god, I would agree with that assessment. I have done this before. Admittedly I was young and had not known what it was to be happy at the time, so it was easy to do. Mind you, the process also involved becoming mostly emotionless, which is something that, having now know what it is to be happy, I would advise against. While it may reduce d...

Re: personal responsibility disease in the U.S.

I think you take this slightly out of proportion, though I have indeed noticed this as well. The first example is a gross exaggeration, the second, less so. While that situation would not come up, it is not uncommon to place part of the blame on a raped woman for doing something like wearing reveali...
