Joint Meetups

Postby ily » Fri Feb 27, 2009 10:43 am

I was having dinner with my dad yesterday, and he asked me how AVEN meeutps were going (I guess he's kind of cool, all things considered). I said I wasn't doing them as well as I'd like since I've been super stressed out at work, but that's neither here nor there. Anyhoo, he suggested that we do joint meetups with other organizations. "You're too small to be independent", he said. I've never thought about it before, but I think he has a point. I don't know who this other group would be, but in theory, it's not a bad idea. What do you all think? Would you consider meeting up with another organization?

How about the Presbyterians? That way you could be the APA: the Asexual Presbyterian Alliance.

More seriously, the only related groups people seem to be able to think of are ones for LGBT people or for celibate people.

Celibate people have groups? That's new to me, unless it's monks or nuns.

A joint meet-up might be organized in a monastery. ;)

Hm, I can't really see that happening unless it's in an LGBT setting. In theory, it might work for other groups, but I'm not sure how it'd work with asexuality meetups.
