And in other news

Several things of note

A young scientist called billy boyle has created what may just be the most breakthrough discovery of the last 20 years..if it works. Having lost his wife after her two year battle to colon cancer he set about in creating and helping to develop a device that works like a breathalyser machine does with alcohol content, a machine that detects on a breath specimen...the chemicals that largely tend to be in a persons body when they have cancer, those mentioned seem to be lung and bowel cancer.

The machines are to go on trial in two hospitals as parts of trials this summer. it is estimated due to the early discovery of the cancer it could..and at this stage they do stress could...save the national health service £245 million pounds and possibly 10,000 lives.

Not only will it help poorer countries but also poor in richer countries such as America were health care is so exspensive. If the trials do confirm what is expected then there is potential in the future to fine tune them even more for other cancers...interesting stuff.

If your a fan of the lgbt..god knows why..then a super gay is on it's way..or at least he is

midnighter is due to hit a mainstream comic publisher in his own solo series, a world first for a male gay superhero..he will have his own monthly title dc comics has announced. Created in 98 he first appeared with his long term partner (now husband) Apollo as part of dc's wildstorm comics imprint. it is due to go on sale in june in a move that has been claimed as a positive commitment to lgbt representation

After some noting the lack of diversity of black and coloured people in the recent awards and nominations claiming a colour bias.... it was pointed out that there seems to be no one claiming colour bias against the indian film mega arena that is Bollywood and that No one seems to bothered if it is under represented by white or black artists and actors. There was also none of those groups in Hollywood claiming oppression and under representation..making the same claim in Bollywood. It is therefore reasonable to ask, is it only one particular colour people seem to lodge the racist claim at and if so why ignore it elsewhere?

technology

Samsung now have within their instructions for their smart TV's that operate by voice...that users should be carefull when talking close to such TV's as the "data" can be captured and transmitted to third parties...it goes like this...if your spoken words include personal or other sensitive information, that information WILL be among the data captured and transmitted to a third party through your use of voice recognition...sounds all very 1984 until you realise a simple phone call where you give your bank details over the phone could be sent to a complete stranger via your tv

Dogs can be trained to detect cancer so I suppose it's possible to analyse breath to detect it - onece you've identified what you're trying to identify (if that makes sense)

Haven't read comics for some years now so Midnighter can make all the plans and annoucements they like...I'll politely decline :)

I read about the Samsung thing too - and thought it used to be 'not in front of the children. Now it's not in front of the tv!'
