Thanks for clarifying, guys.

The premise of this thread is to learn magic.

Here is a spell to transform yourself into someone or something else:

Have before you a picture of the desired transformation i.e. a picture of a dragon. Bow respectfully before the picture. Say the words 'Transformata imagio dragon' or whatever. Then make another respectful bow.

Word of advice: Do not shirk in Doctor Ledin's classes. He may be nice but he's no fool and will soon pull you up.

That's really bad, Tanwen. But we will make a magical practitioner of you yet. Those behind the Academy are lucky, we were actually born into it. But we are not elitists, we believe magic should be for everyone which is why Great Uncle Manfred founded the Academy and Auntie Brin founded the American counterpart.

What spell book are you reading from, Tanwen? We no longer use obsidian, it was outlawed in 1973! Some of the magicians used to, shall we say, use it a little too recreationally.

Pif, to the wall NOW! Otherwise I will send for Doctor Ledin!

Pif, you just gave Auntie Brin great disrespect. For that, you are to spend your recess for the rest of the month facing the wall.

It's a really old one I found in a trunk in the dungeon - look :)

Bloody hell, that trunk is older than time itself!

It's an outdated book, useful only for curiosity value as are the other old fashioned contents such as the cauldron. These days it's test tubes and laboratories, which was pioneered by Doctor Magnificat.

I will put it in the Academy Museum.

Yes, son, you in the corner! You made disparaging remarks about our beloved American brethren, especially aimed at Auntie Brin for starting an American version of the Academy.

Think yourself lucky it was I who punished you. My avatar and big brother, Doctor Ledin, would have been a lot worse!

Can we use Mercury or has that been banned too?

You mean the legendary Freddie? Or the element?

If you mean Freddie, he was a staunch supporter of our work and his friend the Killer Queen is one of our biggest successes. The Fat Bottomed Girls are also ex alumni.

As for the element, it is perfectly legal since mercury is a natural element. All natural rocks, jewels and elements are legal in magic because they originate from Mother Nature whom we all greatly respect and revere. Apart from obsidian though, for the earlier stated reasons.

So all natural elements (except obsidian) what about plants? Any banned because of substance abuse???

Yep, meant the element...it's so much FUN :)

Plants are product of Mother Nature so they are in. They are useful in potions, medicines, food and drink. Check out some of the more unusual plants at the Academy Garden such as the baínneflower and the Explop fruit. And the casabema plant, colloquially known as Po after the brand name of the sandwich spread derived from it is just divine!

I don't think that anything less than hydrogen monoxide will be able to affect a stain that serious.
Good luck. Be sure to wear protective gear!

Not poo, you lovable amadán, po! PO, PO, PO. Po is the colloquial name for the casabema plant and is now the official brand name of Po related products such as Po sandwich spread, Po soft drinks, Po chocolate (candy) bars and Po chunks (similar to tofu or soya). The plant can be eaten all ways, including raw in salads. All parts of the po are edible and it is 100% vegan.
