personality disorder test

Postby michaels » Mon Nov 28, 2011 6:46 pm

The latest version of Linux Mint uses a search engine called DuckDuckGo. To test-drive it I had it search the word "test," and it came up with a personality disorder questionnaire high in the list of results. Here's my results along with a link to the test page:

Disorder | Rating
Paranoid: Moderate
Schizoid: Moderate
Schizotypal: High
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Low
Histrionic: Moderate
Narcissistic: High
Avoidant: Low
Dependent: Moderate
Obsessive-Compulsive: Moderate

Hmmm... I get rated a high probability of "Schizoid", but actually the quotation they give to describe that sounds rather flattering to me...
"Self-reliant, each loner swims alone through a social world—a world of teams, troops and groups—that scorns and misunderstands those who stand apart. Loners know better than anyone how to entertain themselves—and how to contemplate and to create. They have a knack for imagination, concentration, inner discipline, and invention—a talent for not being bored."

Schizoid is an interesting one. I took Abnormal Psychology a few years ago, and the professor mentioned that there were some disorders that many in the field argue are not actually disorders; they my differ from the norm, but they do not cause harm or distress. Schizoid Personality Disorder was one of the ones he mentioned in this category.

I've not taken this, so I do not yet have results to post. That being said, keep in mind this is an online test and not a professional diagnosis.

The last psychiatrist I discussed asperger's with said it's "a different way of being in the world" rather than an illness, so it too has been depathologized. But that's likely because of the high number of very politically active parents of aspie kids who didn't want their children stigmatized as mentally ill. Good for them. If only someone would do the same for the rest of us.

In adulthood, does asperger's cause problems for the person who is that way? Yes, it does. Does schizoid personality cause problems for the person who is that way? Indeed. But are they _mental_ problems or _social_ problems? That remains the main question.

Disorder | Rating
Paranoid: High
Schizoid: Very High
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Low
Histrionic: Low
Narcissistic: Moderate
Avoidant: Moderate
Dependent: Low
Obsessive-Compulsive: Low

fairly accurate, at least on the broad strokes, I've actually been diagnosed schizoid PD (and major depressive episodes) so it got the big one right and I get how the big d could be divided among the others
What is love? Well, you know that feeling you get when you've been locked in a tiny dark space alone for a year? It's kind of the opposite of that.

Out of curiosity, I gave it a spin:

Paranoid: Moderate
Schizoid: High
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Low
Histrionic: Low
Narcissistic: Moderate
Avoidant: Low
Dependent: Low
Obsessive-Compulsive: Moderate

My high score in schizoid is not surprising. That being said, the binary nature of some of the questions seems to bias introverts towards schizoid and schizotypal diagnosis.

I also have to laugh at having score moderate on obsessive compulsive. I am anything but.

Okay, I finally got curious and took the test.
I didn't get any high scores at all. :/
I'm pretty sure that means that I'm a really boring person. :shifty:

Paranoid: Low
Schizoid: Low
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Low
Histrionic: Moderate
Narcissistic: Moderate
Avoidant: Low
Dependent: Low
Obsessive-Compulsive: Moderate
If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

I totally didn't notice that ambiguity. I'm rather messy and disorganized.

I am disorganized in some respects and obsessive compulsive in others. It's either all or nothing with me. Sigh....
